I painted the design with underglaze, then coated it with clear gloss glaze before firing it in the kiln. The clay is a beautiful earthy stoneware tan color with black/brown specks. Inside of the pot is dusky wine color.
 
This is an original piece of art that is durable, decorative, and functional!
